Before your installation
We will remove all furniture and objects from the room. Ahead of your installation, we’ll review large objects that may require special care and consideration. Make sure to empty any cabinets, drawers, and closets in these areas before our installation team arrives. If necessary, we may set your heat or air conditioning to create the preferred level of indoor humidity according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
If your old floor covering needs to be pulled up, it will certainly need to be disposed of and we will discuss with you ahead of time how to best accomplish this step. This saves valuable time and potential hassle.
It’s always wise to consider the possibility that your doors may not clear and swing free after the new hardwood is installed. This means we might need to remove doors in order to install the hardwood and re-hang them afterward. If the new floor height presents any issues, we can shave or cut down doors to ensure clearance.
Since installing new hardwood will produce waste, we generally collect these discarded materials and leave them at your trash collection site. On the day before installation, check in with us so that we are on the same page regarding cleanup and potential added costs. We can create a plan for your hardwood remnants.
During installation
Your presence will be required on the day of installation in case the installation crew has questions. Throughout the day, our team can check with you to ensure that the correct hardwood is installed in the proper areas. Although there’s no exact way to estimate the length and circumstances of each job, we strive to give you an accurate arrival & departure time. We ask and thank you for your flexibility in advance. We are a team!
Due to the variety of tools and techniques needed to professionally install your hardwood, we deem the work area too hazardous for your family to be present. Make sure your loved ones and pets are clear of all work areas during installation to ensure everyone’s safety.
Before the completion of your new hardwood installation, we want you to walk through the job with the chief installer. Ask all the questions you have and get a clear understanding of any final details. Your satisfaction is our number one goal.
After installation
Establish good ventilation if you or your family are sensitive to dust and odors. If so, provide those rooms with adequate airflow for two or three days by opening windows & running fans to create a breeze when possible.
