Daily care & maintenance
Just like soft wall-to-wall carpeting, make sure to regularly vacuum your area rugs to pull up dirt, dust, pet dander, and debris. Since your area rugs will most likely live in high-traffic areas, anything that is left behind can be rubbed into the carpet fibers and lead to dulling of colors and patterns as well as an overall shorter rug lifespan.
Avoid vacuums with beater bars, or disconnect or remove the beater bar, to vacuum a shag rug with longer yarn cables that can get tangled. For best results, set your vacuum to the lowest height setting.
Treating spills & stains
Treat spills on your rugs just like spills on your carpet. Time is of the essence! Clean all spills right away and use a dry, clean cloth to pick up any solids. Rinse the area with warm water and then soak up as much as of the liquid as possible. Under NO circumstance should you bleach your rug.
When the damp area has dried, vacuum over it to bring the rug back to its fresh original appearance. Never hesitate to contact Floor Dimensions if you have questions or concerns about stains and we will do our best to provide recommendations on cleaning products and professionals!
